Omg this is so good. One of your best works. "Use soap... you won’t need to have your laundry perpetuate the lie for you anymore" I'm going to have trouble deciding on a quote. 🤣🤣
@Strangeleaf Isn’t it true though? We have come too far for the medieval era and their terrible fashion and personal hygiene choices to drag us back. Whether fabric softener, Axe body spray, or those scented car trees hung from the back of one’s belt (in emergent circumstances only) all serve to cover up the fact that sometimes the only prescription that’d cure the ailment is a thorough washing of the aforementioned one’s ass.
I sometimes wonder how bad people smelled back in the day sitting in a FULL suit in summer in a non-air-conditioned ball room DANCING. No wonder they’d ask to go for a walk outside to “court.”
It certainly does explain human migratory patterns, and why they traveled so far for rare herbs and spices. Nothing obliterates bad (all) smells better than a nice curry. Granted, it also has the reputation of creating other new and exotic bad smells later in the evening, but novelty seldom arrives without cost!
Tho, you ever walk into a clothing store that reeks of a perfume odor? And you ask the clerks, “does that smell bother you?” They go, “I don’t even notice it anymore.”
It is true. Also the hanging of the fresh tree off a belt is brilliant. I might carry a half dozen for the next time I find myself in a crowd. Just start clipping them to stinky people.
This whole post had me laughing so hard. I love this-- "Scents like “Generic flower and mild depression” or “Moonshine and Suburban lawn clippings". Genius!! I agree, what is up with those awful scents? I feel assaulted when I walk near them!
Great friend and ally @Thorn, these are the questions that expose the rot that so many of the powerful try to cleverly conceal. Why must they continually lie? They know that no “Summer Breeze” on this planet smells like that. I demand to see the “Lilac” shrub they referenced when formulating “Lilac Cornucopia and sweet pea” Peas aren’t even sweet! Except maybe to the British, but even they’ll readily admit they were issued defective tastebuds.

Please give Jimmy and Gary my regards!

I believe there was a gratuitous use of lavender and sage in the undergarments.
“Mr. Rochester, is that a bushel of sage in your pocket or are you happy to see me?”
