And unfortunately, situations like these—where you have earnest, motivated young workers who want to progress or improve situations—end up draining all youthful energy or desire to put forth one’s best effort. Trauma from the workplace turns good workers into worse ones, and then that trauma is inflicted upon everyone else. And so the cycle continues. Very poignant writing!

It’s made what should be benign concepts such as “workplace culture” into toxic meme food. Then management is all shocked pikachu face when morale is low, no one seems to care about customer service and people treat the job as disposably as the job treats them!

Far too many of us have friend @Thorn! From the nightmares of retail to the factory floor and healthcare to the cubicle. Pretty much any job that omitted basic decency from the employer handbook. Eventually they might learn just how many calories HIIT training burns!
